Perfect

As I was driving today, I heard Pink's song, Perfect (the edited version!). The chorus goes something like this:

Pretty, pretty please
don't you ever, ever feel
like you're less than
less than perfect

pretty, pretty please
if you ever, ever feel
like you're nothing
you're perfect to me.

I was bugged. (If you don't know me well enough, know that I get overly bothered by lyrics of songs...). I've got a question for ya:

What's so bad about being IMperfect?

I went through a life stage where I was all, you know what, I'm gonna be the sarcastic, cynical person that I am and I don't care who thinks I'm a terrible person for it, because that's just who I am!

Well, guess what, old me? That may be who you are, but that's not who you COULD be! You could be a lovely and happy and positive person! And that will make you closer to perfect! But it certainly will not make you perfect...

Because the only perfect person that did and has and will ever exist is the Savior, Jesus Christ. His perfection redeemed my imperfection. His absolutely perfect life allowed Him to be the Savior and Redeemer, and to offer that saving grace to me. And it is such a disservice to Him for any of us to ever claim that we are perfect just the way we are.

We are not perfect. And there's beauty in that. There's so much hope in the prospect of change. We're all our own worst critic, and every time we find something wrong inside, we get to fix it! How amazing and beautiful is that?!

So, my friends, you are imperfect. And I love you as imperfect. And I hope you DO change!
